About Jen

Jen first started learning about drawing as a young child. Her mother taught her to look at faces and to see the different shapes and features and how to map them out in a portrait. She immediately knew it was something she loved to do.  Jen attended Iowa State University in Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration, graduating with a B.A. She then went on to get a certificate of graduate work in Science Illustration at University of California, Santa Cruz. After her internship at Scientific American Magazine in Art Direction, she went on to become a designer at Hallmark Cards, Inc. Throughout Jen’s schooling she put portraits into any project that she could. As Jen started at Hallmark, her 17 year design career took off and family life became a focus. She took a break from painting for many years. Two years ago she decided to get back to figurative paintings and has been loving it ever since.
